Gold Medal Camps are dedicated to broadening the base of paddling enthusiasm through a fun-filled and innovative program. The instructional team of Joe Jacobi and Bob Campbell brings tremendous insight and experience to the table, as well as a ligh- hearted approach to teaching, encouraging spirited efforts from participants. What’s more, stories of their Olympic connections inspire the “gold medal” pursuits that reside in all of us.

Joe and Bob use their slalom backgrounds, techniques and philosophies to help practicing boaters gain confidence and improve their overall whitewater skills. They also love introducing newcomers to the joys of paddle sports, starting them out with good habits and strong foundations. Regardless of skill level, the Gold Medal approach begins simply by maximizing the individual attention they give each student.

Joe Jacobi became America's first ever Olympic Gold Medalist in Whitewater Slalom at the 1992 Olympic Games in Barcelona, Spain and competed again as a U.S. Olympian 12 years later in Athens, Greece. Today, as one of the industry’s top ambassadors for paddlesports, he instructs and speaks at numerous events around the world.

Bob Campbell was an Olympic Team coach for both the 1996 and 2000 Games. He also served as the Slalom Team Leader in Sydney and was named US Olympic Committee “National Coach of the Year” for Canoe / Kayak.  Bob combines over 25 years of paddling and teaching experience into a personalized brand of instruction. He has developed a variety of educational programs for aspiring paddlers, including some close to his home on the Roaring Fork River in Colorado.
