Course Details

Wilderness First Responder Recertification is a 24-hour (three-day) Wilderness Medical Associates course that must be taken once every three years to maintain your WFR certification. The course includes Wilderness Medical Associates CPR certification which is good for three years. The course begins on the first day at 8:30 and runs until about 6 p.m. each day. The other days of the clinic may have different start or end times. Your instructor will let you know what the schedule will be on the first day of the course. Sometimes the day will include evening video critiques or simulations. You should allow time in the evenings to complete course homework.

Please Note:
In order to sign up for a WFR Recertification Course, you must have a current certification. If your current certification has already expired, you need to contact Wilderness Medical Associates to find out if you can get an extension to re-certify.

To prepare for your Wilderness First Responder recertification you will receive the following materials in an email:

  • Field protocols
  • Pre-course recertification letter
  • Pre-course study guide

The pre-course information will take several hours to complete, so please allow yourself enough time to prepare. If you have not received this information, please be sure to contact WMA at 888-945-3633 or by e-mail at [email protected].
